This, amongst other reasons, reaffirmed for me why I’m a photographer. May everyone find passion in their life in something they love. And may it inspire someone else. Photographers in the industry are so consumed by the idea that someone might steal their image (watermark EVERYTHING) or threatened that an idea might be plagiarized (avoid contact with “competition”) but really, don’t we all look up to some other photographer? And aren’t we all inspired by someone? As one of my inspirations, Natalie Norton, says, “no one can be you – so just be you.” All that other stuff…who cares…it’s the little things:
Received this from a recent client. During our shoot, little miss Rylee and I had a conversation about her photography. I started at about the same age – dressing up my friends and yes, even my little brother, posing them and taking pictures of them. I hope she grows up to be an amazing photographer and inspires someone else.
“Elli, I wanted to share a story with you. Rylee brought home a poster that she is supposed to complete for the first day of 3rd grade. On it is a box that asks who inspires you. Rylee asked me what that meant. I said someone you admire or look up to, that motivates you to do something good…she said oh, I know, I’ll put Elli! You short conversation with her about photography has left a lasting impression…and I’m thrilled! Thank you!”
No, thank YOU. All of you. For your support, feedback, inspiration, friendship, love and interest in my work. I’m grateful to you all.
