Faolan Birth Story

DSC09818

Child birth is one of the most precious things to happen. Given the intimate nature of these events, I am truly touched every time someone invites me to be there. It’s one of those jobs that requires weeks of being on call and an agreement to shoot for an undefined amount of time for the same rate. But to be the one chosen to memorialize the emotion, intensity, joy and excitement of a new life, totally worth it!

This mama = rockstar. I received the call that things were starting to progress. About 15 minutes later, a second call saying things were going to progress fast. I arrived approximately 40 minutes later and she was in full active labor. And yes, the pictures don’t lie – almost 10 1/2 pounds; a natural, un-medicated home birth. Like I said, rockstar. Congrats to mama, daddy and big brother.

Oh Ellie, beautifully done. Having had all 3 of my babies at home, these pictures brought tears to my eyes. There is no better place to bring a child into the world then in the home they were made in. You captured it beautifully!
